March 1, 2009

Cowboy Festival

Adam Ainsworth will once again will host the 12th Annual Cowboy Campfire Festival in Hat Creek. The festival will celebrate its tweleth anniversary on July 25, 2009.  Although there were less than 20 at the first Campfire Festival in 1997, this festival has grown steadily every year since. This summer another crowd will gather around the campfire for music, stories & lies. The Annual Cowboy Campfire Festival is a place for the tellers of long winded stories that have happy endings.

Adam Ainsworth has been a storyteller most his life. He is a long time resident on Hat Creek & has always dreamed of producing & hosting a cowboy music festival. The dream came true for Adam in 1997 with the very first Cowboy Campfire Festival in Hat Creek, Alberta.

Perhaps our greatest fascination with the cowboy

Comes from the fact that, more than we realize it

There is a bit of the cowboy in us all

The best thing for the inside of a man is the outside of a horse

Cowboy is defined by Ramon Adams in The Cowboy Dictionary as: “just a plain everyday bow-legged human. He is carefree and courageous, fun loving and loyal. He is uncomplaining and doing the best to live up to a tradition of which he is proud.” Cowboys are called everything from cowpokes to dudes and wrangers, but never cowards. Cowboys are still with us today and will always be as long as the west has cows. Cowboys will change perhaps with the times, but they’ll always be witty, friendly and fearless.

Hat Creek, Alberta

Established 1990.

The Flying Horse Co. is a place where the time between the going down of the sun and the coming of sleep truly belongs to the tellers of stories and tall tales. It’s a place where all the stories are long winded and have happy endings. The Flying Horse Co. is on the Norther Range where you dreams will find you under a prairie sky. It’s a place that time has truly forgotten.
